The existing barn during conversion. Additional accommodation to the existing farm stead over 2 floors, to provide living room, kitchen at ground floor and large bedroom and bathroom at first floor. The farm house / barn was listed. Therefore, as well as planning approval, listed building consent was required. Following this building regulations approval was obtained.
As the property was listed, close consultation with the borough’s conservation officer was undertaken. One of the requirements is the lime mortar which had the original materials, mixed in the exactly the same quantities and using a traditional puddle mixer on site.
